Investor confidence in Gujarat appears to be making a strong comeback. After months of uncertainty in the stock market, the value of equity mutual fund investments held by investors in the state increased by ₹7,267.54 crore in June, taking the total assets under management (AUM) to a record ₹3,87,309.73 crore.
The latest growth marks the third consecutive month of recovery, suggesting that many investors who had paused their investments during the market downturn are gradually returning.
Equity Mutual Funds Reach a New High
According to the latest industry data, Gujarat’s equity mutual fund AUM rose from ₹3,80,042.19 crore in May to ₹3,87,309.73 crore in June, reflecting a 1.91% monthly increase.
This follows strong gains in the previous two months as well. Equity mutual fund assets had increased by ₹14,208.65 crore in April and ₹14,250.75 crore in May, showing a steady upward trend after a difficult March.
Earlier this year, mutual fund assets had fallen sharply by ₹19,480.87 crore in March due to volatility in the stock market. Since then, however, investor sentiment has steadily improved.
Strong Growth Compared to Last Year
The recovery is even more significant when compared to last year. Gujarat’s equity mutual fund assets have grown by 15.2% over the past year, rising from nearly ₹3.36 lakh crore in June 2025 to ₹3.87 lakh crore in June 2026.
This indicates that despite market fluctuations, investors have continued to build wealth through equity mutual funds over the long term.
Investors Are Returning to the Market
Financial advisers say many investors who had stopped investing during the market correction in March are now exploring investment opportunities again.
Experts believe that people who have been investing for several years understand that market corrections are a normal part of investing. Instead of seeing falling markets as a reason to stay away, many now view them as an opportunity to buy quality investments at better prices and rebalance their portfolios.
At the same time, existing investors are increasing their Systematic Investment Plan (SIP) contributions, showing renewed confidence in long-term investing.
Interest Expands Beyond Traditional Funds
Wealth advisers also point out that investors are no longer limiting themselves to conventional equity funds. There is growing interest in themes such as infrastructure, with investors looking for sectors that could benefit from India’s long-term economic growth.
Experts say this reflects a more informed approach, where investors are paying greater attention to sectors with future potential rather than focusing only on short-term market movements.
SIPs Continue to Be the Preferred Choice
Despite the rise in equity mutual fund investments, advisers believe that most investors continue to prefer investing through SIPs instead of making one-time lump sum investments.
This disciplined approach helps investors spread their investments over time and reduces the impact of short-term market volatility. It has also become a popular strategy during periods of uncertain market conditions.
Growth Not Driven Only by Fresh Investments
Industry experts caution that the increase in mutual fund assets does not necessarily mean all the growth came from new investments. AUM also rises when the value of existing investments increases because of improving stock markets.
Separate data on net inflows would be needed to determine how much fresh money investors actually invested during June.
Investors Are Taking a Long-Term View
Financial planners say investor behaviour has changed noticeably over the years. Earlier, many people were mainly concerned about whether the market would continue rising.
Today, investors are asking more practical questions—such as how much they should invest and for how long—showing a more mature and disciplined approach towards wealth creation.
With market confidence improving and investors continuing to rely on SIPs and long-term strategies, Gujarat’s mutual fund industry has entered another phase of steady growth, setting a new record for equity mutual fund assets in June.
