In a shocking incident from Panej village in Bodeli taluka, Chhota Udepur district, a five-year-old girl was allegedly killed in a ritualistic sacrifice.
The accused, identified as Lalu Himat, also known as Lalu Tadvi, reportedly lured the child—who lived opposite his house—into his residence. There, he is believed to have performed occult rituals before fatally attacking the girl with an axe.
Following the attack, Himat abducted the victim’s 1.5-year-old brother. However, local villagers noticed the incident, intervened, and successfully rescued the infant. The villagers immediately informed the police.
Authorities, including the local Mamlatdar and police officials, arrived at the scene and initiated legal proceedings. The girl’s body was sent for post-mortem examination.
The police has arrested Himat and registered a case of murder. An investigation is underway to ascertain the full details of the crime.
Jayant Pandya from Vigyan Jatha condemned the act, stating, “This is an unforgivable crime, and strict punishment must be given to the accused.”
He urged the government to act swiftly, saying, “The chargesheet should be filed as soon as possible. The government must take this issue seriously and formulate strict measures to ensure such crimes do not occur in the future.”
Condemning black magic practices, he added, “We oppose such acts where animals, birds, or even humans are sacrificed.”
