Gujarat Government has discontinued its subsidy scheme of Rs 12,000 for students to buy two-wheelers. On the other hand, the subsidy given by the Center for commercial e-vehicles continues. The central government is launching an incentive scheme for e-vehicles, while the state government has decided to stop subsidizing students on the pretext of grants.
Gujarat Government hasn’t announced if the subsidy scheme will be resumed or not and why they have discontinued it. It is important to note here is that a low-speed two-wheeler costs around Rs 70,000.
The Government suddenly announced the discontinuation of the subsidy on Thursday which has left showroom owners confused as on one hand government talks about giving preference to e-vehicles and on another hand they are canceling subsidy.
