The Gujarat government has increased the dearness allowance (DA) received by employees and pensioners by 3 per cent. This decision will come into retrospective effect from July 1, 2024, and will be paid in arrears.
With effect from July 2024, the dearness allowance that Gujarat government employees and retirees were receiving at a rate of 50 per cent in January 2024 would now be given at a rate of 53 per cent. This also applies to the state’s AIS (All India Service) employees.
According to the announcement in the Government of India’s Office Memorandum dated October 21, 2024, the State Government’s Finance Department has decided to raise the dearness allowance rate for Central Government employees from 50 per cent to 53 per cent, effective July 1, 2024.
ID Chaudhary, the deputy secretary of Gujarat’s finance department, signed the government order (GR) dated December 4, issued by the finance department from the Secretariat in Gandhinagar.
Before this, on October 16, in a significant relief measure ahead of Diwali, the Union Cabinet, led by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, authorised a 3 per cent rise in dearness allowance (DA) and dearness relief (DR) for central government employees and retirees.
The biennial revision of DA and DR affected about one crore central government.
