An analysis of Class 10 Gujarat Board results for the 12 years from 2011 to 2022 has revealed that out of a total of 1.13 crore students, who appeared for the Std 10 board exams, 64.68 lakh students passed with an average of 57.9 per cent and around 47.32 lakh students failed during these 12 years.
The Class 10 board exams’ result of the state has never been above 60 per cent since the year 2014. The result has been steadily declining since 2011 when the result was reported to be 71.06 per cent. The lowest result for Class 10 board exams was reported in the year 2020 at 47.33 percent.
According to a survey, these 47.32 lakh students from across Gujarat were found to be engaged in working in garages, driving, sewing, jobs in shopping malls, vegetable or snack lorries, retail jobs on contract and retail labor. The monthly income of these people ranges from Rs 5,000 to 30,000 and there were around 15.75 lakh people whose incomes were even lower than Rs 5,000, stated the survey further.
