Gujarat has taken a big step towards green and smart mobility by launching the Switch EiV 22, a carbon-neutral electric double-decker bus, at the Vibrant Gujarat Global Summit 2024. The event was held at the Gujarat International Finance Tec-City (GIFT City) and attended by Shri. Bhupendrabhai Patel, the Chief Minister of Gujarat, and other eminent personalities.
The Switch EiV 22 is a product of Switch Mobility Ltd, a Hinduja Group company that specialises in electric buses and light commercial vehicles. The Chief Minister and other dignitaries took the inaugural ride of the bus, which offers a panoramic view, comfortable seats, and innovative features. The bus also has a 231 kWh battery pack that can run for 250 km per day.
The Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) has procured five such buses, which will ply on the Gandhinagar-Ahmedabad route along the SG Highway. Switch Mobility will handle the supply, operation, and maintenance of these buses, ensuring a smooth and eco-friendly transit service for the commuters.
Mahesh Babu, the CEO of Switch Mobility Automotive Ltd, said that the Switch EiV 22 is a game-changer for urban mobility in India, as it combines technology and sustainability. He added that the company’s vision is to improve lives through green mobility, and that its fleet of nearly 600 electric buses has already covered over 50+ million kilometers across major Indian cities since 2018. He hailed the launch of Switch EiV 22 at the Vibrant Gujarat Summit as a milestone for sustainable urban transportation.
