The Gujarat Anti-Terrorist Squad (ATS) has taken a Gujarat man in custody for sharing sensitive details with a spy from Pakistan, who operated under the pseudonym Aditi Tiwari. He has been charged under relevant IPC sections.
Nilesh Balia worked at the Central Public Works Department (CPWD) within the premises of the BSF headquarters in Bhuj.
Balia, who got into a relationship with the Pakistani agent in January, shared critical details about the BSF and the border region. Tiwari claimed to be working with a corporate. The two reportedly communicated after office hours by phone.
A report claimed that not only did Bala share confidential papers related to ongoing and completed electrification projects at various BSF buildings but he also divulged certain civil department records.
According to ATS officials, Balia received Rs 28,800 via UPI platforms. The ATS is investigating Balia’s phone and bank accounts for more clues. The body has also accessed his WhatsApp records despite him activating the disappearing message feature.
The report added that eight suspicious transactions have been identified.
