Muslim religious scholars have advised All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen Supremo Asaduddin Owaisi to field candidates in assembly constituencies where the party has a good chance of winning or putting up a good fight.
The AIMIM Gujarat unit met with Muslim religious scholars in Kutch on Saturday, seeking their support and suggestions in the run-up to the 182-member Gujarat assembly elections in December.
The scholars suggested that because AIMIM had contested over 90 seats in an alliance with smaller parties in Uttar Pradesh and had come up empty, the party should refrain from contesting too many seats in the name of spreading the party base.
They also asked him to tailor his speeches to appeal to not only Muslims and Dalits, but also other Hindu communities.”The party will need Hindu and Muslim votes to win a significant number of seats.” It should ensure that strong candidates are chosen to run in elections,” a religious scholar said. In their respective capacities, the Muslim scholars offered their assistance to AIMIM.
