The Southwest monsoon is gradually setting foot in Gujarat but almost every district in the state has now started witnessing showers of the season. Some districts in the Saurashtra and Kutch regions of the state have even witnessed heavy rains with thunderstorms. Meanwhile, the Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) on Thursday predicted rains in 28 districts by 10 pm tonight.
Apart from this, some isolated places in Surat, Kheda & Anand districts of Gujarat witnessed a heavy rainfall, with Kamrej in the Surat district recording a highest of 10 cm rainfall on Thursday. Other than this, South Gujarat, some places in North Gujarat and Saurashtra along with isolated places of Kutch reported rainfall during the last 24 hours on Thursday, stated the statement released by the weather forecasting department.
According to the IMD, Ahmedabad, Amreli, Banaskantha, Mehsana, Panchmahal, Patan, Rajkot and Vadodara are likely to witness moderate rain while heavy rains are expected in Dwarka, Jamnagar and Porbandar till 10 pm today on Friday.
