Gujarat recorded 293 coronavirus cases – a drop of 3.9% from yesterday’s tally of 305 – and eight deaths in the last 24 hours. With 8 Covid-19 fatalities, the cumulative number of deaths climbed to 10,919 in Gujarat, the state health department said in a release.
The eight people who succumbed to the infection were from Vadodara (4), Gandhinagar (1), Surat (1), Tapi (1) and Junagadh (1). Besides eight deaths, as many as 34 Covid-positive patients are on ventilator support in Gujarat.
With today’s update of daily cases, the state’s active cases tally stood at 2,942.
Ahmedabad city remained the biggest contributor with 112 cases. Other major contributors include Vadodara (53), Rajkot (11), and Surat (10).

India logged 14,148 new coronavirus infections, taking the total tally of COVID-19 cases to 4,28,81,179, while the active cases dipped to 1,48,359 on Thursday.
The number of dead climbed to 5,12,924 with 302 fresh fatalities, the data updated at 8 am stated. The daily COVID-19 cases have remained below one lakh for 18 consecutive days.
