For almost over a month now, corona cases continue to grow alarmingly in Gujarat. In the last 24 hours 668 new cases of Covid-19 were reported positive on Saturday.
This was the third day in a row that Gujarat recorded more than 600 new daily cases of Covid-19. On February 21, after around 138 days, the number of active caseload in the state has crossed the mark of four thousand and there are currently 4046 active cases in the state. In the 9 days of July alone, 5345 people from the state have been infected with Covid-19.
In the last 24 hours Ahmedabad registered the highest number of 253 new cases in city and 5 in rural with total reaching to 258 on Saturday. Followed by Ahmedabad, Surat reported 99 new Covid-19 cases, Vadodara registered 61, Gandhinagar 46, Bhavnagar 35, Rajkot and Valsad 18 each, Mehsana 15, Kutch 14 and Bharuch reported 13 fresh Covid-19 cases on Saturday. Apart from these districts, other districts have registered the cases in single digits. Notably, a total of 24 districts in Gujarat are registering cases of Covid-19.
According to the Health and Family Welfare Department of Gujarat, not a single death was reported from Covid-19 for the fifth day in a row on Saturday. In the last 24 hours 551 patients recovered from the Covid-19 in Gujarat. So far, a total of 12,22,221 patients have recovered from the Covid-19 in the state with a recovery rate is 98.79 per cent.
The Health Department further informed that a total of 44,053 people took second dose of Covid-19 vaccine on Saturday. With this, the total of vaccinated population in the state has now reached to 11.18 crore.
