In India, street food is a vital component of the national diet. Every street vendor tries to make something unique and here, we have a Gujarati street vendor, who was once an engineer, selling fruit chai and thepla in Ahmedabad city. He has a unique method of brewing the popular drink chai. He uses apples and chikoo to flavour the tea. He is known for offering a special chutney and thepla for just Rs 20 in addition to selling tea.
Food blogger @foodietraveller_dharak posted a video of the seller on Instagram. The video quickly surpassed 990k views. In the video, the vendor can be seen preparing chai and adding apples and chikoo to it. The procedure is extremely fascinating because he is adding fruits to conventional tea. Then he makes a mouthwatering thepla and serves it with special chutney.
Many customers were intrigued by the vendor’s ability to experiment with tea. There were several responses and comments on the video. “Thepla chutney is ok chey pan fruity vari cha not excellent,” one Gujarati user commented (Thepla chutney is okay but this fruity tea is not good). One person remarked, “Chai is looking amazing, would love to try it,” while another said.
