Gujarat’s media industry is in for a major shakeup with a corporate house out there shopping for media groups and senior journalists. Well-placed sources claim that among them is a senior editor who has spent over three decades in the State’s media and is likely to witness a twist in his career.
One of the richest corporate houses of the State that recently acquired a new-age digital media platform is likely to buy two more media houses from Gujarat. The buzz is: one is an English tabloid and the other a vernacular newspaper, the circulation numbers of both are sinking for the last one year.
Not just this editor but his entire staff is up for acquisition. This may bring some major changes on the media landscape considering that both the publications are reputed and once upon a time they did churn out impactful stories.
This senior journalist, who is the face of political TV debates and is often seen sharing lunches and dinners with Gujarat’s politicians, may soon be working under a corporate house. With the forthcoming Gujarat Elections 2022, the State is indeed set to witness several new things on the socio-political spectrum. This is just the beginning.
