Housing.com CEO Dhruv Agarwala Sheds 71 kg in Remarkable Health Transformation

| Updated: March 27, 2024 19:37

Dhruv Agarwala, the CEO of Housing.com, has made headlines with his incredible weight loss journey. The Singapore-based entrepreneur managed to lose a staggering 71 kg in just two years, going from nearly 152 kg to 81 kg. This transformation came after a health scare during a work trip to India in October 2021.

Agarwala, 53, experienced heart palpitations and a racing heart, leading to an emergency hospital visit. “I felt I was going to die,” he confessed to the South China Morning Post (SCMP). This incident served as a wake-up call for Agarwala, who then resolved to take control of his health.

At the time of the health scare, Agarwala was at his heaviest, weighing 151.7 kg. He was pre-diabetic, suffered from sleep apnea and was on medication for high cholesterol and blood pressure. However, by November 2021, Agarwala had managed to come off all medications. “My cholesterol and blood pressure levels are normal now, I am off the sleep apnoea machine and am no longer pre-diabetic,” he revealed.

So, how did Agarwala achieve this remarkable transformation? He undertook strength-training sessions three times a week with a personal trainer in Singapore and increased his daily step count to 12,000, up from 10,000. His trainer, Ahmad Zaki, motivated him by mentioning tennis legend Roger Federer, whose physique Agarwala admired.

On the dietary front, Agarwala reduced his daily calorie intake to 1,700 calories. He completely cut out alcohol, processed and fried foods and ensured he ate protein in every meal. He also practiced portion control and ate healthy snacks such as nuts, carrots, cucumbers, or yogurt to control hunger pangs.

Housing.com, where Agarwala serves as the group CEO, is one of the leading full-stack proptech platforms in India, offering listings for new homes, resale homes, rentals, plots, commercial spaces and co-living spaces. It was founded in 2012 and was acquired by REA India in 2017.
