The ICG District Headquarters at Porbandar and Okha conducted special community interaction programs on February 22, 2022, in Porbandar, Mangrol, Veraval, and Okha. The purpose of these special interaction drives was to generate awareness regarding the increased presence of Pakistani ships in the notional IMBL.
Recently several Indian fishing boats were seized by the Pakistani Security Agency recently. Indian Coast Guard ICG keeps a strict eye on the notional IMBL, however, awareness and sensitization among fishermen are equally important. This drive was done in the light to aware the fishermen who operate near the international waters on a daily basis.
The ICG teams warned fishing communities not to operate near the notional International Maritime boundary Line (IMBL) and in No Fishing Zones (NFZs). They also made the fisherman ware of the banners depicting notional IMBL clearly demarcating the No fishing Zone through coordinates were displayed for benefit of fishermen. The drives were highly interactive wherein, fishermen expressed their interest and keenness.
