IIT Gandhinagar Organised Its First-Ever Cricket Tournament

A month-long night cricket tournament IITGN Cricket League (ICL) 2022 was organized by IIT Gandhinagar to bring together cricket enthusiasts from corporates and institutes in the vicinity for a memorable experience.  ICL was a maiden tournament organised by the institution which was played between employees of renowned companies, educational institutions, and corporate firms.

The tournament commenced on 30th May and it concluded on June 28 with a final match between ONGC and Gujarat Secretariat, ONGC won the ICL 2022 by six wickets. This tournament was sponsored by the Bank of Baroda and Foster.

There were 12 teams participating, including ONGC, HDFC, NeoTex, Bank of Baroda, Neha Nursing Home, Gujarat Secretariat, GST, Road & Building Department, Kadi Sarva Vidhyalaya, Arvind Ltd, Moneymine, and IIT Gandhinagar. 25 T-20 matches were played, and the quarterfinals followed league matches with a knockout system. ONGC and Moneymine played semifinal matches in the semis.

Anil Patel, Secretary of the Gujarat Cricket Association, also visited IITGN for the finals of ICL 2022.

Prof Gaurav Srivastava, Dean, Campus Development and Prof Madhu Vadali, Head of Sports, IITGN, presented the trophies to the Winner, Runner-up, Man of the Series, Best Batsman, and Best Bowler.

 Additionally, IITGN hosted an internal and external squash coaching camp last month at its new squash courts.
