Immigration Department Detains Kheda Couple Travelling From Ahmedabad To Dubai For Passport Tampering

The immigration department prevented a couple’s plan to travel to Dubai from Sardar Vallabhai Patel International Airport in Ahmedabad. Previously, Hiteshkumar Pravinbhai Patel and Binalben Hiteshkumar Patel, residents of the Kheda district of Gujarat, travelled from Mumbai to Ireland in 2018. However, they did not have an immigration stamp on their passport.

On August 28, Jagdish Prajapati, an official at the immigration counter at Ahmedabad airport for the last five years, noticed something suspicious. At terminal 2, he observed a couple with passports issued from ‘the Republic of India.’ They showed that the couple travelled from Mumbai to Ireland in 2018. But their documents did not have a stamp by the immigration department. It implied they did not check in with the concerned authority before trekking abroad.

Thus, the husband and wife travelling to Dubai were handed over to the airport police station. In this regard, the airport police registered a case against the Kheda couple under Sections 406, 420, 467, 468, 465, 471 and the Passport Act.
