In a media briefing delivered jointly by Colonel Sofiya Qureshi, Wing Commander Vyomika Singh, and Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, India laid out its official account of recent provocations by Pakistan and the calibrated response undertaken by Indian armed forces.
It was reiterated that Pakistan’s actions have constituted provocation and escalation. In response — and only in response — India has defended and reacted in a responsible and measured fashion. The morning witnessed a repeat of this escalatory and provocative pattern. According to latest reports, at least three airbases in Pakistan were hit by Indian strikes in the early hours of Saturday, as tensions between the two countries continue to escalate.
“They used high-speed missiles at 1:40 am to target Punjab’s air base,” Colonel Sofiya Qureshi added.
The speakers said that Pakistan had been carrying out aggressive actions all along the western border. These included drones, long-range weapons, loitering munitions, and fighter aircraft used to target civilian areas and military infrastructure. The Pakistan military also resorted to air intrusions along the International Border and the Line of Control. These included harassment attacks attempted in regions such as Srinagar and other 26 locations.
“The Pakistan Army has been observed to be moving its troops towards forward areas, indicating an offensive intent to further escalation. Indian armed forces remain in a high state of operational readiness, and all hostile actions have been effectively countered and responded proportionately. Indian armed forces reiterated their commitment to non-escalation, provided the Pakistan side reciprocates,” Commander Vyomika Singh said.
The Indian armed forces successfully neutralised the majority of these threats. However, some limited damage was sustained to equipment and personnel at Indian Air Force stations in Udhampur and Pathankot (reports claimed that Pakistan used medium-range Fateh missiles).
Several high-speed missile attacks were also noticed at multiple air bases in Punjab. In one particularly deplorable act, Pakistan targeted civil infrastructure — including school premises.
In a swift and calibrated response, Indian armed forces carried out precision attacks only on identified military targets. These included technical infrastructure, command and control centres, radar sites, and weapon storage areas.Radar sites at Sialkot aviationbase were also targeted using air-launched precision weapons from fighter aircraft. While carrying out these responses, India ensured minimum collateral damage.
Pakistan also attempted to execute a malicious misinformation campaign, making false claims of destruction of Indian infrastructure with the S-400 system. India unequivocally rejected these narratives as falsehoods.
Along the Line of Control, Pakistan attempted multiple air intrusions using drones and conducted shelling with heavy-calibre artillery guns, deliberately targeting civilian infrastructure and causing civilian casualties. Heavy exchanges of artillery, mortars, and small arms fire continued in the Baramulla sector. The Indian Army responded effectively and proportionately, causing extensive damage to the Pakistan Army. The Pakistani military was also observed moving troops into forward areas, indicating offensive intent and a continued aim to escalate the situation.
Indian armed forces remain in a high state of operational readiness. All hostile actions have been effectively countered and responded to appropriately. The Indian position on non-escalation was reiterated, conditional upon reciprocal behaviour by the Pakistani military.
At the end of the briefing, visual evidence was presented, showing Indian Air Force bases in the Punjab and Rajasthan sectors operating normally, effectively debunking Pakistani claims of widespread destruction.
In the final remarks, it was emphasised that Pakistani claims about attacks on Indian facilities remain heavy on lies, misinformation, and propaganda — peddled directly by Pakistani state agencies.
There was a strong call to not be misled by a tissue of lies being promoted by Pakistan for obvious purposes. Pakistan was also accused of targeting civilians and civilian infrastructure in Jammu & Kashmir and Punjab, as well as attempting to sow discord between communities in India.
It was noted that earlier in the day, Pakistan shelled the town of Rajouri, killing the Additional District Development Commissioner, Raj Kumar Thapa. Overnight damage to property and injuries to civilians were also observed in Firozepur and Jalandhar.
Ludicrous claims from Pakistan about India firing missiles towards Amritsar and even Afghanistan were firmly rejected. The accusation about Indian missiles hitting Afghan territory was described as completely frivolous. It was pointed out that the Afghan people do not need to be reminded about which country has, repeatedly in recent years, targeted civilian populations and infrastructure within their borders.
