The Indian Coast Guard (ICG) launched Urja Prabha on 5 March 2022, an auxiliary barge on March 05, 2022, the inauguration was done by Smt. Viraaj Sharma in presence of Inspector General Dev Raj Sharma PTM, TM, Deputy Director General (M&M), Indian Coast Guard Headquarters, New Delhi at Shift Shipyard, Bharuch.
Urja Prabha is 36.96 meters long with a draft of 1.85 meters, designed to cargo ship fuel, aviation fuel, and freshwater with a capacity of 50 tons, 10 tons, and 40 tons, respectively. The barge will enhance Indian Coast Guard operations by providing logistical support to ICG ships deployed at far-flung sites for various Coast Guard duties.
