Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by nine wickets at Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium on Friday for their fifth straight win in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022.

The Orange Army started their IPL 2022 campaign with defeats against Rajasthan Royals and Lucknow Super Giants but they have now moved up to second place in the points table.

Against Bangalore, Hyderabad put up their best performance ever in the tournament. After winning the toss and choosing to bowl first, Hyderabad reduced Bangalore to just 68 runs. In the second over, Marco Jansen sent RCB’s top order back to the pavilion after dismissing Faf du Plessis, Virat Kohli and Anuj Rawat.

With this, Virat Kohli was dismissed for the Golden Duck for the second time in a row in IPL 2022. In addition, Glenn Maxwell and Suyash Prabhudesai scored double-digit runs but failed to score big for the team.

After Jensen’s tremendous spell, left-arm fast bowler T. Natarajan took three wickets and helped Hyderabad to bowl out Bangalore for just 68 runs in 16.1 overs. Left-arm spinner Jagadisha Suchith took two wickets while Bhuvneshwar Kumar and Umran Malik took one wicket each.

Ken Williamson and Abhishek Sharma led the innings in the opening for the Sunrisers. Abhishek Sharma hit 47 off 28 balls with the help of eight fours and one six before being caught by Anuj Rawat in Harshal Patel’s second and innings the eighth over.

Rahul Tripathi then completed the game by hitting a huge six on the leg side off Harshal Patel. In the match, Williamson scored an unbeaten 16 off 17 balls with two fours.
