Gujarat Chief Minister visited the Wildlife Life Care Centre of the forest department in Bodakdev and monitored the operation theatre, OPD, X-ray room and other facilities here for birds.
The state government has launched Karuna Abhiyan from January 10 to 20 to rescue and treat birds injured due to kite flying string(thread) during, before, and after the Kite Flying Festival (14-15 January).
More than 900 treatment centres, 700 doctors, and 7700 volunteers will be part of Karuna Abhiyan. Last year total of 13,008 birds were rescued during and around the Kite Flying Festival. The government has activated control rooms from 7 am to 6 pm.
Details or treatment centres for birds can be obtained through WhatsApp or missed call on 83 2000 2000. Helpline numbers are 1926(forest department) and 1962(animal husbandry department) for rescue and treatment of injured birds.
