PULWAMA, Jammu and Kashmir: Indian security forces in Kashmir dealt a blow to potential militant activity on Monday, arresting three individuals and recovering arms and ammunition in a joint operation in Pulwama district.
Acting on specific intelligence, the Indian Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police launched a coordinated Cordon and Search Operation (CASO) in the early hours of December 25th in Panzu and Gamiraj villages. During the operation, they apprehended three suspects and seized two pistols along with other “war-like stores,” as announced by the Chinar Corps.
The details of the recovered “war-like stores” have not been officially disclosed, but could include magazines, ammunition, grenades, or other explosives. The arrested individuals are currently undergoing joint interrogation by the Army and Jammu and Kashmir Police.
This successful operation comes just days after another significant security achievement in the region. On Sunday, Jammu and Kashmir Police intercepted a drone package near the Line of Control (LoC) in the Akhnoor sector of Jammu district. The intercepted package contained a cache of weapons and explosives, including a pistol, six improvised explosive devices (IEDs), a grenade, and ammunition.
These recent successes highlight the continued efforts of security forces in Kashmir to combat terrorism and maintain security in the region. The swift action in seizing weapons and apprehending suspects in Pulwama potentially prevented a significant incident, showcasing the vigilance and effectiveness of joint operations between the Army and Police.
