Arvind Kejriwal yesterday praised the Bhagwant Mann-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) government in Punjab for its initiatives in the state, saying that the Chief Minister had been brutally honest and took hard decisions when required.
Delhi Chief Minister said that previous governments were questioning Mann, but the truth is that they were the ones who were until now backing gangsters. He alleged that mafia gangs flourished under previous regimes, whereas Mann has already taken serious actions to end corruption. “Several steps have been taken to rein in graft, including starting an anti-corruption helpline,” he said.
AAP supremo further insisted, “Gangsters born of other parties are being caught. Last month more than 130 gangsters were caught. These gangsters used to run their gangs sitting in jails. The AAP government stopped running gangs from their jails. Gangsters will soon be cleared from Punjab.”
The Delhi chief’s comments come a day after Akali Dal chief Sukhbir Singh Badal accused him of running the office in Punjab by giving Bhagwant Mann a box of liquor every week, in return for his seat of power.
Kejriwal and Bhagwant Mann were addressing the crowd after the launch of the luxury bus service from Jalandhar to the Indira Gandhi International (IGI) airport in Delhi.
Mann also reiterated Kejriwal’s sentiments, saying that his government is determined to work for the welfare of the people. He said, “All promises made to the people will be fulfilled and we will once again make Punjab ‘rangla’ (vibrant),”
