For years, sending a parcel or accessing regular postal services in Khavda meant depending on facilities located far away. That is now changing as the remote Kutch region gets a postal identity of its own.
Khavda in Kutch has been assigned a new PIN code — 370246 — along with a dedicated India Post delivery office. The move comes as the area has grown from a sparsely inhabited stretch of land into a large renewable energy hub with thousands of people living and working there.
From a Remote Area to a Growing Community
Khavda’s transformation has brought more than just large energy projects to the region.
The area now has a growing workforce, residential townships, businesses, service providers and other facilities needed to support people working at the renewable energy park.
Until now, postal services for the area were handled through a post office around 70 km away, along with services from the Kuran Branch Post Office.
With the population and activity around the renewable energy park increasing, the need for a local postal facility became more practical than relying on distant services.
The new Khavda Post Office is expected to make everyday postal and financial services more accessible to the people living and working at the site.

The dedicated facility will provide regular postal services as well as banking-related services. These include:

For businesses and workers based in the area, the new facility could also make routine deliveries, financial transactions and other postal requirements easier.
A PIN Code That Means More Than an Address
The new 370246 PIN code gives the renewable energy park a separate postal identity and connects it directly to India Post’s delivery network.
For a fast-growing business and residential area, a dedicated PIN code can also matter beyond letters and parcels. It can help establish serviceability for sectors such as banking, insurance, logistics and e-commerce.
In that sense, the new PIN code reflects how much the geography of Khavda has changed in a relatively short period.
Thousands of People Now Call Khavda Their Workplace
The scale of development is visible in the size of the workforce. The Adani Green Energy project at Khavda has around 15,000 workers and staff residing at the site, with facilities such as healthcare centres, retail outlets, recreation areas and banking services supporting the growing community.
The renewable energy development is spread across a vast area. The Adani Green Energy Limited (AGEL) project covers around 538 sq km, with more than 10 GW of renewable energy capacity already operational, according to the report. AGEL has set a target of taking its Khavda project to 30 GW by 2029.
The park is being developed by AGEL along with other developers, making Khavda one of the key locations in India’s renewable energy expansion.
When Infrastructure Starts Following Development
The arrival of a dedicated post office may appear like a small administrative change compared with the scale of the energy projects coming up in Khavda. But it also shows how basic public services are beginning to catch up with the area’s rapid development.
What was once a sparsely populated part of Kutch now has workers, homes, businesses and supporting infrastructure. The new postal address is another sign of that shift.
PIN code 370246 is therefore not just a new number on an envelope. It marks Khavda’s transition from a remote corner of Kutch to a growing economic and renewable energy hub.
