Know Your Candidates: Bharuch, Narmada

Phase 1 voting of the Gujarat Assembly elections has begun. A total of 89 Assembly seats in South Gujarat and Saurashtra-Kutch are currently set for the election. 788 candidates are contesting in the first phase of voting.

In the Narmada district, Nanod (ST) and Dediapada (ST) are the two Assembly seats. Both seats have a majority of Scheduled Tribes (ST). In the last state Assembly elections, the Congress won the Nanod seat and the Bharatiya Tribal Party won the Dediapada seat.

This time, the BJP has fielded Darshana Vasava from Nanod and Hitesh Vasava from Dediapada. The AAP has fielded Praful Vasava from Nanod and Chaitar Vasava from Dediapada. The Congress has nominated Haresh Vasava from Nanod and Jermaben Suklal Vasava from Dediapada. Harshad Vasava is an independent candidate from Nanod.

Whereas in the Bharuch district, there are five Assembly seats. In 2017, the Congress won Jambusar, the BJP won Vagra, Bharuch and Ankleshwar and the BTP won Jhagodia (ST). The majority of the Assembly seats belong to the general category.

In the 2022 Assembly elections, the BJP has fielded Devkishordasji Sadhu from Jambusar, Arunsinh Rana from Vagra, Ritesh Vasava from Jhagodia, Ramesh Mistry from Bharuch and Ishwarsinh Patel from Ankleshwar. The AAP has fielded Sajid Rehan from Jambusar, Jayraj Singh from Vagra, Urmila Bhagat from Jhagodia, Manhar Parmar from Bharuch and Ankur Patel from Ankleshwar. The Congress has fielded Sanjay Solanki from Jambusar, Sulemanbhai Musabhai Patel from Vagra, Fatehsingh Amanbhai Vasava from Jhagodia, Jaykantbhai B Patel from Bharuch and Vijaysinh Thakurbhai Patel from Ankleshwar.

Chhotu Vasava is the sole and independent candidate from Jhagodia seat.
