Ji Ji Vara Dam in Charkala village in Dwarka has suffered a leakage and this could cause serious damage to crops in the surrounding areas. Local sources say that more than 150 farmers could be affected due to this. Currently, several districts in Gujarat are dealing with heavy rains and flood-like situations. The dam has been affected due to this weather.
According to sources, this has been the case every year. Despite applications to the Gandhinagar CDO, leakage in the dam happens every year. There was no response from the CDO last year. Farmers said that even this year the irrigation department has appealed to the Gandhinagar CDO to come up with a permanent solution. However, the locals fear that their cry for help might fall on deaf ears this year as well.
