Rajula, Gujarat: Panic gripped the town of Rajula in Amreli district, Gujarat, on Monday morning when a leopard entered an under-construction hospital and made itself comfortable in one of the rooms.
According to reports, laborers working at the construction site spotted the leopard around 10 am as it entered the building and climbed to the second floor. When they attempted to scare it away, the leopard descended and entered a room on the ground floor.
The hospital, being built by a private charity trust, was fortunately unoccupied at the time of the incident. The forest department was immediately alerted, but the leopard had already managed to escape before their teams arrived.
Leopards and even lions venturing into fields and near houses are not uncommon occurrences in Rajula. However, this incident, with the leopard entering a public building, has raised concerns about human-wildlife conflict in the area.
While the leopard’s escape ensured no immediate harm, it highlights the need for increased vigilance and measures to minimize such encounters in the future.
