The incident of mass ragging at the Boys Hostel of the Government Physiotherapy College in Jamnagar has come to light. An inquiry has been launched into the matter and a written complaint has been lodged by more than 25 students alleging ragging.
Reportedly, more than 25 students of second year staying with the freshers in hostel mentally tortured the juniors. It is to be noted that similar incidents have taken place in the colleges of Jamnagar even before and hence it has become necessary to take disciplinary action against the students responsible for ragging so as to prevent such incidents in the future.
The matter is yet being investigated by the anti-ragging committee based on a ragging complaint received by the principal of a government physiotherapy college and the committee will submit its report by evening.
Although there have been incidents of ragging in the past and strict action was not taken in those cases, it remains to be seen what action will be taken by the system this time.
