Mega Vaccination Drive in Gujarat: Over 22.60 lakh people vaccinated in the state

In a gift to Prime Minister Narendra Modi, on his 71st birthday on Friday, September 17, Gujarat state carried out a special Covid vaccination drive as part of the Mega Vaccination Drive, carried out in India.

The state-wide vaccination drive was launched by newly elected Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel from Ahmedabad and Health Minister Rushikesh Patel from Jamnagar. More than 22.60 lakh citizens have been vaccinated in the state-wide vaccination mega drive. (This figure is still 11 pm).

The target was to complete 100 per cent vaccination in 7,500 villages during the mega drive. Citizens are being vaccinated at more than 14,000 booths. Citizens have also responded enthusiastically to the state government’s campaign.

Chief Secretary Pankaj Kumar is constantly reviewing the situation for the effective implementation of this mega drive. Efforts are also being made by the entire administration and the health system to ensure that more people come forward for vaccination.

The first dose was given to all persons above 18 years of age in 17 talukas across the country and in the state. The Covid-19 vaccination operation was launched on January 16, 2021. 

Vaccination drive at Chandkheda

Gujarat is the first state in the country to start vaccinating front line workers. A total of 5.35 crore vaccine doses have been issued in the state till September 16 and 8,34,787 vaccine doses have been given per one lakh population in the state. Gujarat is one of the leading states in the country. A total of 5,906 villages, 104 primary health centres, 14 urban health centres and 17 talukas in the state have been vaccinated 100 per cent by giving the first dose to all persons above 18 years of age.

Vaccination drive at Amraiwadi

There are 9,621 government and 87 private sites conducting the vaccination drive.
