Mehsana Urban Bank Director Kirit Patel Accused Of ₹2.40 Crore Fraud

| Updated: July 3, 2023 9:03 pm

Mehsana Urban Bank Director Kirit Patel has been accused of a serious offence related to a fraudulent transaction of ₹2.40 crore. The allegations were made by Superintendent of Police Achal Tyagi and Deputy Superintendent of Police Becharaji PSI Rathod. Kirit Patel, who was expected to assist the police as an informant, is accused of receiving financial benefits from the individuals involved in the fraud.

Kirit Patel’s suicide has raised concerns about the alleged involvement of the police officials mentioned in the note, who are accused of receiving financial gains by not taking timely action. The investigation is ongoing.

Kirit Patel, the son of former MLA Bhailal Patel, had previously been associated with the Congress party before joining the BJP. His involvement in this case has raised eyebrows, as he was expected to play a crucial role in providing information to the police. However, it is alleged that KiritPatel received financial gains from the individuals involved in the fraudulent transaction, as mentioned in the suicide note.

The investigation into this case has been assigned to Inspector General (IG) Abhay Chudasama, IPS of Gandhinagar Range. Meanwhile, Superintendent of Police Achal Tyagi from Mehsana and PSI S.J. Rathod from Modhera is under investigation by Deputy Superintendent of Police (Dysp) Payal Someshwar of Sabarkantha Headquarters.

Kirit Patel filed a formal complaint in February 2023. The complaint involved five individuals, including a couple from Ahmedabad, in a fraudulent transaction amounting to ₹2.40 crore. The cheating occurred in multiple installments throughout 2022, during which the accused deceived Kirit Patel and acquired the aforementioned sum of money. Despite KiritPatel’s repeated attempts to seek assistance from SP Achal Tyagi and PSI S.J. Rathod, the police did not take concrete action at the time, and no First Information Report (FIR) was registered. Kirit Patel chose to end his life on July 1 by hanging himself as a result of the agony he endured during the investigation.

These serious allegations against the police officials mentioned in Kirit Patel’s suicide note raise concerns about their alleged financial benefits by not registering the complaint promptly and their consistent delay in taking action against the fraudsters.
