In Gujarat’s Kutch district, a 17-year-old girl was allegedly kidnapped and gang-raped after being forced to consume local liquor, police said on Sunday.

According to Kutch West Superintendent of Police Saurabh Singh, four people have been arrested in connection with the crime, which took place on a farm at the foot of a hill in Bhujia area on March 16.

The teenager was found lying unconscious and taken to a hospital by people who lived nearby, he said. “She went to the farm with her friend, and the accused made her consume liquor and had it themselves, then they sexually assaulted her.”

“The victim remembers one person raping her and she fainted as a result of the effects of liquor. Another person has confessed to raping her. An investigation has begun to discover whether the other two accused also raped her while she was unconscious.” Mr Singh adds

Bhuj B Division police charged the four accused under relevant sections of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and POCSO Act. The woman was raped by more than one person, according to medical reports.

Hussain Kakal (35), Rahul Sathwara (19), Valji Vadhiyara (24) and Mahesh Maheshwari (20) have been identified by the police as the accused, and all will remain in custody for ten days.
