Refusing to accept her daughter’s decision to marry Lalit of her own choice, Zulekha Banu planned an “abduction” of her own daughter Simran.
Simran Idris Multani and Lalit, both consenting adults, tied the knot in Delhi. Lalit, works as a food delivery boy and lives on the Sarkhej-Dholka Road. After formalising the marriage, the couple stayed with Lalit’s family, not far from Simran’s maternal house.
Late Wednesday night around 2:30 am, Zulekha Banu, on finding the main gate unlatched, seized the opportunity and gethered six young men. The group barged into Lalit’s house, flashed a knife while seizing Zulekha and threatened Lalit and his family with dire consequences.
When Lalit protested, the group beat him up and roughed up his family. Leaving the house in disarray, they whisked Simran in a car waiting outside. However, not one to give up, Lalit immediately approached the local police and narrated the incident. The cops swung into action.
Zulekha Banu and the six men were arrested while Simran was sent to live with her in-laws.
