A 30-year-old woman from Petlad in Anand threw her two-month-old infant from the third floor of Civil hospital in Asarwa, instantly killing her.
After initially trying to cover up the murder by saying that the baby was missing, she confessed to the crime when confronted with the hospital’s CCTV footage. Farzana, the accused, was fed up with her daughter Amrin’s illness and could not bear to see her in pain anymore. Farzana’s husband Asif Malek has filed a complaint against her with Shahibaug police.
She had delivered the baby on October 5, 2022, at a hospital in Uttarsanda, Nadiad. However, during the delivery, the baby consumed amniotic fluid due to which her health began deteriorating. After being hospitalised for 24 days, her health improved, and she was discharged.
However, on December 14, the baby again developed health complications.
Farzana and Asif took their daughter to Civil hospital in Nadiad from where she was transferred to the 1200-bed hospital on the Civil hospital campus.
Shahibaug police arrested Farzana for murder and concocting a false story to cover up the crime.
