Naresh Mahesh Duo Awarded With Padma Shri

Late Mahesh Kanodia, Gujarati singer along with his brother Naresh Kanodia were named for the Padma Shri award. The Gujarati Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel announced the award at the first death anniversary commemoration event organised on Monday night.

PM Modi Declares Posthumous Padma Shri

During the announcement, CM informed that Prime Minister Narendra Modi had declared posthumous Padma Shri to the Naresh-Mahesh duo. The awards will be given by President Ram Nath Kovind on November 9.

The brother is popularly known as the Naresh-Mahesh duo’ in the Gujarati film industry. They both used to sing together and died around the same time as well. Two days after Mahesh died on October 25, 2020, his brother Naresh died too (due to Covid 19).

Back in 2012, Naresh was awarded the Dadasaheb Phalke Award for his contribution to over 300 films. Meanwhile, Mahesh showed his talents in being able to sing in 32 different voices over 20 languages.
