On the fifth anniversary of the Pulwama terror attack, Prime Minister Narendra Modi paid tribute to the fallen jawans, stating that their “sacrifice for our nation will always be remembered.” The heinous suicide attack in 2019 saw 40 Indian security personnel lose their lives when terrorists linked to Pakistan rammed an explosive-laden vehicle into their convoy.

The country will always be indebted to him for his supreme sacrifice dedicated to the defence of India.”
On February 14, 2019, a convoy of 78 vehicles transporting more than 2,500 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel from Jammu to Srinagar was targeted by terrorists. The attack, which resulted in the death of 40 CRPF personnel, was attributed to the Pakistan-based and aided terror organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM), led by the internationally proscribed terrorist, Masood Azhar.
In response to the attack, the Indian Air Force carried out a retributive strike, bombing suspected terrorist camps in Pakistan’s Balakot.
