Namanveer Singh Brar, a 29-year-old national shooter, and private coach was found dead at his house in Sector 71, Manali on Monday.
Sub-inspector Amandeep Singh, the investigating officer(IO) said that the incident took place around 3:35 am when Brar was alone in his room. The IO further said that Brar had returned home late and went to his room while his pregnant wife was sleeping with her mother-in-law.
Brar shot himself on the right temple with his licensed Glock pistol and died on the spot as pert the IO. As per the police, there was no suicide note found so the reason for death is not known.
Brar’s family rushed him to the hospital and the post-mortem was conducted at the civil hospital in Phase VI.
Police have initiated inquest proceedings under Section 174 of the Criminal Procedure Code on the basis of Brar’s father who didn’t want to go for any further investigation. The body was handed over to the family members after the post mortem.
Brad had won the bronze in the double-trap shooting event at the Indian University Championship and World University Games in 2015. At present, he was a private coach to young shooters.
