Gujarat National Law Univesity has deemed it prudent to close the physical classes that it restarted from April 4 after 25 students of the University tested Covid-19 positive on April 8 taking the tally to 33 cases among students at GNLU in two days. In fact, Gujarat National Law University (GNLU) campus was declared a containment zone by the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation
Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation had conducted 167 rapid antigen tests at the campus out of which 25 were found positive. There were at least three cases symptomatic. All the affected patients have been isolated.
It is also pertinent to note that the campus students held a blood donation camp on Thursday and collected over 170 units of blood. The camp was inaugurated by Manoj Aggarwal, Additional Chief Secretary (Health and Family Welfare), Government of Gujarat.
Freshers’ week planned for the students admitted in 2020 and 2021 was also cut short on April 7 as soon as the first case came to light, GNLU Registrar in charge informed. There are more than 1000 undergraduate and postgraduate students on the campus.
Staggering mess timings for breakfast, lunch and dinner are put in place and the University is working closely with Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation’s Medical Officer of Health. Examinations will also be held online.
As per the Friday Covid-19 bulletin, a total of 20 Covid-19 cases were reported across the state, of which 15 were from the Gandhinagar Municipal Corporation area. The state has been reporting fewer than 15 cases a day since March 27.
