The Ahmedabad City Civil Court judge Mr J M Brahmbhatt denied anticipatoray bail to international tennis player Madhvin Kamath. The court accepted the arguments of the prosecution that the accused had acted to cause irreparable trauma to the mental and physical health of the victim. Ahmedabad resident 22-year-old Kamath is accused of morphing the photo of a girl and defaming her.
Ahmedabad Cyber Crime Department had earlier filed an FIR against tennis player Madhavin Kamath for downloading the photo of a girl from her Instagram account and circulating it as a poster with her telephone number and “call girl for entertainment” printed. The girl, also a resident of Ahmedabad, is an acquaintance of Madvin Kamath.
The victim was horrified to receive calls from unknown numbers seeking sexual favors in return for money and came to know about what had been done. Acting upon the girl’s complaint, when police started the investigation, Madhvin Kamath was implicated as he was captured in the CCTV footage at the places where the poster was put up.
Apart from being a mirror to moral cesspit of an externally glamourous life, it is a sad turn for the promising career of a young sportsman. Though the court is yet to convict the accused, the CCTV footage leads to believe that personal enmity has gotten better of his judgement to have indulged in such foolhardy manner.
