No EPF benefits from Sept 1 if PF account is not linked with Aadhaar

| Updated: August 31, 2021 16:55

The EPF benefits for the PF subscribers will be curtailed from Sept 1, Wednesday, if the Aadhaar card of the subscriber is not linked with the PF account. A couple of months ago, the Employees’ Provident Fund Organization (EPFO) had postponed the deadline for linking the Aadhaar card with the PF account from June 1, 2021 to September 1, 2021. Also, EPFO had mandated the filing of PF returns with Aadhaar-verified universal account numbers (UAN).

The regulatory body has implemented new rules under section 142 of the Social Security Code, 2020 and has clearly instructed the employers that from September 1, Electronic Challan cum Return (CRN) will not be filled on missing out linking Aadhaar with PF account or verifying UAN with Aadhaar till the deadline. Making the employees unable to get the employer’s contribution to their PF account. Apart from this, the benefits include the facilities like taking COVID-19 advance along with PF insurance benefits among others.
