‘No Kings’ Protests Sweep US and Europe, Millions Rally Against Donald Trump

| Updated: March 29, 2026 10:44

Millions of people took to the streets across the United States and parts of Europe on Saturday in coordinated “No Kings” rallies, protesting the war in Iran and the policies of President Donald Trump.

Demonstrations were reported across all 50 states—from New York City to small towns like Driggs—highlighting the breadth of participation across both urban and conservative regions. Organisers said over 3,100 events were registered, with turnout projections running into the millions.

In St. Paul, thousands gathered at the state Capitol in what was billed as a flagship event. Protesters packed the grounds, some carrying upside-down US flags—a traditional symbol of distress. The rally featured a performance by Bruce Springsteen, who debuted a protest song inspired by recent federal enforcement actions and civil unrest.

The protests were driven by a wide range of grievances, including the administration’s immigration crackdown, the ongoing conflict with Iran, and concerns over civil liberties. Demonstrators carried placards reading “No Kings” and “Regime change begins at home,” while marches in Washington, D.C. saw crowds moving from the Lincoln Memorial to the National Mall.

Supporters of the administration dismissed the protests as politically motivated. Critics within the Republican establishment described the rallies as driven by ideological opposition rather than broad public sentiment.

Beyond the US, rallies were held in cities such as London, Paris, and Rome, where demonstrators linked the protests to wider concerns about war, rising nationalism, and democratic backsliding.

Organisers estimate that earlier rounds of “No Kings” protests this year drew between 5 and 7 million participants, with this latest mobilisation expected to surpass those figures—though final attendance numbers are yet to be confirmed.

The scale and geographic spread of the demonstrations underscore a moment of heightened political polarisation, as public dissent against the Trump administration spills onto the streets both within the US and internationally.
