No Netflix And Chill For Will Smith As His Movie Gets Stalled

| Updated: April 4, 2022 12:02

In the wake of his infamous slap at this year’s Academy Awards, Will Smith has begun to face repercussions. According to a report, Netflix has slowed down the production of Smith’s action-thriller, Fast and Loose. During the Oscars ceremony, Smith hit Oscars presenter and comedian Chris Rock with a slap after he made a joke about his wife, Jada Pinkett Smith’s physical appearance.

According to an alleged report, director David Leitch had pulled away from this project weeks before the Oscars ceremony was held. Leitch instead chooses to work on Ryan Gosling’s upcoming project ‘Fall Guy’ for Universal, following this, the streaming giant Netflix has decided to pull away from the film. However, it is still unclear if Netflix will resume work on Fast and Loose’s development or if they plan to rope in a new actor.

After the ceremony, Will Smith issued a public apology to Chris Rock for punching him. In a note he shared on Instagram, he wrote, “Violence in all of its forms is poisonous and destructive. My behaviour at last night’s Academy Awards was unacceptable and inexcusable. Jokes at my expense are a part of the job, but a joke about Jada’s medical condition was too much for me to bear and I reacted emotionally (sic).” He added, “I would like to publicly apologize to you, Chris. I was out of line and I was wrong. I am embarrassed and my actions were not indicative of the man I want to be. There is no place for violence in a world of love and kindness (sic).”

Smith further added, “I would also like to apologize to the Academy, the producers of the show, all the attendees and everyone watching around the world. I would like to apologize to the Williams Family and my King Richard Family. I deeply regret that my behaviour has stained what has been an otherwise gorgeous journey for all of us. I am a work in progress. Sincerely, Will (sic).”

Jada Pinkett Smith revealed her alopecia diagnosis back in 2018, Jada has always been very vocal about her struggle with the condition. Will Smith and Jada tied the knot in 1997.
