Following a similar case happened a few days earlier in Delhi’s NCR region, where a self-proclaimed politician Shrikant Tyagi was captured on video assaulting and shoving a woman at a housing society, a video recently released on social media showcased a woman shouting expletives, making indecent gestures and threatening a security guard, as he delayed in opening the society’s gates, has been sent to judicial custody for 14 days.
Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) shared the video of the incident, where the woman can be seen abusing the security guard. The Chairperson, DCW, Swati Maliwal captioned the clip and tweeted; “This woman is openly abusing this guard with so much hooliganism and abuse. What kind of vulgarity is this? @noidapolice. Strict action is necessary against this woman.”
The video that went viral across social media apparently belongs to the Jaypee Wishtown society based in Gautam Budh Nagar in Noida city of India’s northern Uttar Pradesh state. It showcased the accused grabbing guard’s hand, while he exercises restraint and is pleading for her to calm down.
Speaking to the reporters, a security guard named Karan Chaudhary said, “It took some time to open the gate and Madam was waiting. There was nothing else. So she started shouting and hurling abuses.”
Meanwhile, a case has been filed and the accused woman, Bhavya Rai has been accused under Indian Penal Code sections 153A (acts prejudicial to maintenance of harmony), 323(voluntarily causing hurt), 504 (intentional insult to provoke breach of public peace), 506 (criminal intimidation), and among others, as stated by the Additional Commissioner of Police (Headquarters in-charge), Bharti Singh.
“A woman named Bhavya Rai was caught on video abusing, misbehaving with a security personnel of the society. Police registered a case based on the complaint of the security guard. Her vehicle has been brought to PS & she has been arrested,” Singh said.
Moreover, secretary of the Society, Ankit Kuchhal asserted that the appropriate action will be taken against the resident.
“The guard filed an application with the police, and the FIR was registered as a result.” The lady is a tenant and an advocate who is staying for 3-4 months. We have informed the owner of her flat, and the society will take the necessary actions,” Kuchhal said.
The investigation is underway.
