Not The Way It Used To Be; People’s Verdict Out For United Ways’ Garba In Vadodara

Gujarat’s most famous Garba organizers, United Way in Vadodara came under heavy criticism by the Garba lovers for the apparent lacuna in management this year.

The participants noticed and made a hue and cry about the perceived downfall in the impeccable facilities which had become synonymous with the United Way brand. The management’s failure was exposed on the very first night of Navratri when the dancers complained about the pebbles on the dancing ground. They started chanting” pebbles- pebbles” when the pebbles started hurting them and making the dancing experience unpleasant and dampening the joyous spirit.

The Garba at Vadodara has acquired fame within the country and abroad. United Way’s Garba at Vadodara has acquired cult status for several years now. One of the most famous organizers, United Way shifted the Garba ground from the ground next to Bhailal Amin Hospital in Gorwa and moved it to MM Patel Farm in Atladara on the outskirts of the city.

However, the experience was not pleasant if the Garba-goers’ accounts are anything to go by. As no one was allowed to go to the Garba Ground wearing shoes, people had to leave their shoes in their vehicles parked one kilometer away. and walk barefoot on the road and open fields to reach the ground.

The M.M. Patel Farm posed another problem also. Since there was visibly no effort at leveling the field,  pebbles, and stones hurt the feet of the dancers. Not only that, there was chaos while buying water in the food stall when there was a break that it came to shove and push.

Despite charging Rs.5000 for men and Rs. 1300 for women,
United Way did not make any arrangements for car parking. Rs 50 for car parking is being charged by private parking service provider Shree Sai Services separately.  This parking lot made in a rough field is also not up to the mark. rough field.

On the first day, the Atladara Bridge witnessed a huge traffic jam. There was no management to steer away the innumerable two-wheelers parked on the side of the road.

Another problem that put the young enthusiast at Garba venue in great difficulty was that the United Way accepted only cash and online payment was not accepted. The young people who came in groups thinking to buy tickets at the venue had to be disappointed.
