Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched an eight km roadshow in Bengaluru on Sunday, ahead of the May 10 assembly polls in Karnataka. Starting from the Kempegowda statue at New Thippasandra Road to Trinity Circle, the roadshow is expected to take about one-and-a-half hours to cover and will pass through parts of central Bengaluru, touching five assembly segments.
Accompanied by Union Minister of State Rajeev Chandrasekhar and Bengaluru Central MP P C Mohan, the prime minister was in a specially-designed vehicle.
To ensure the smooth running of the event, massive arrangements were made, including erecting barricades, as tens of thousands of people were expected to gather along the roadside.
The entire stretch was covered with saffron hues, as BJP flags were put up on either side of the road, with thousands of party workers and supporters wearing saffron shawls and caps.
In view of the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET), which was held on Sunday, the BJP modified Modi’s two-day roadshow in Bengaluru, scheduling a shorter one for Sunday and an extensive event on Saturday, passing through parts of south and central Bengaluru and touching about a dozen assembly segments.
The Karnataka assembly election will be held in a single phase on May 10. Votes will be counted three days later, on May 13.
