| Updated: August 26, 2022 19:48

Prime Minister Narendra Modi has topped the global rating amongst world leaders, yet again. The ratings were released by American research company Morning Consult. Modi had the highest approval rating of 75 percent among 22 world leaders.

Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador and Italian Prime Minister Mario Draghi came second and third respectively with 63 percent and 54 percent ratings. US President Joe Biden managed to hold on to the fifth spot with 41 percent ratings. Right behind Biden, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is in the sixth position with 39 percent ratings and in the seventh position is Japan Prime Minister Fumio Kishida with 38 percent ratings.

Earlier, PM Modi topped the list of the most popular world leaders in November 2021 and January 2022. This is the third time that PM Modi made it to the list.

Morning Consult Political Intelligence is currently tracking the approval ratings of government leaders and country trajectories in Australia, Austria, Brazil, Germany, India, Mexico, Netherlands, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, and the US.

Morning Consult is an online platform that provides real-time data on elections, politicians and current issues. It conducts more than 20,000 interviews daily. All the interviews are done online with a nationally representative sample of adults. In India, the sample represents the literate population.

According to reports, the latest approval ratings are based on data collected from August 17-23, 2022. Approval ratings are based on a seven-day moving average of adult residents in each country, with sample sizes varying by country. For example, in the US, the average sample size is around 45,000. In other countries, the sample size ranges from roughly 500 to 5,000. There is a margin of error of between +/- 1-4 percent.

Age, gender, region and, in certain countries, education breakdowns based on official government sources are considered for the survey. In the US, surveys are also weighted by race and ethnicity.
