PM Modi to Initiate Rs 3,054 Crore Worth Projects in Tribal Districts

| Updated: June 9, 2022 12:01

The Prime Minister is set to inaugurate projects worth Rs 3,054 crore for the tribal districts of South Gujarat, on June 10 during his visit to Navsari district.

The projects aforementioned also consist of the Astol project that will oversee that tap water is provided to 4.50 lakh people residing in 174 villages and 1028 hamlets on the hills of Valsad district. The Astol project was started in 2018 to provide potable water supply to those living in mountain areas, at the expense of Rs 586.16 crore. Under the project, water would reach people’s homes using lift techniques through pumping stations connected to the Madhuban Dam. This water from Madhuban Dam was earlier only used for irrigation processes, but now will be consumed for drinking.

28 pumping stations with an efficiency of 8-Megawatt Volt Ampere have been set up to supply about 75 million liters of drinking water daily. For water storage, six high tanks, 28 underground tanks and 1202 tanks at the ground level in villages and habitations have been put up.

The project is vital for the region after the Narmada-Par-Tapi link project was canceled after opposition from Tribals in Gujarat.

Narendra Modi will also announce the finishing of seven projects, set foundation for 12 projects and conduct bhoomi pujan for 14 projects, totaling to Rs3,054 crore. These events are scheduled up to his visit to Khudvel village where he will undertake Gujarat Gaurav Abhiyan as well.

PM Modi is also about to inaugurate a hospital at Navsari and the headquarters of Indian National Space Promotion and AuthorisationCentre (IN-SPACe) at Ahmedabad on 10th June.
