The Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, will inaugurate the indoor-patient department of the Rajkot All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) on Feb 25. The department has 250 beds and will be part of the AIIMS super-speciality hospital, which will start operating from Feb 26.

The PM will also launch five other new AIIMS from Rajkot on the same day. These are Kalyan AIIMS in West Bengal, Mangalagiri AIIMS in Telangana, Bhatindda AIIMS in Punjab, and RaeBareli AIIMS in Uttar Pradesh. The state government has issued a statement regarding this.

Rajkot AIIMS will be the largest healthcare facility in the entire Saurashtra region. It will have 35 beds dedicated to trauma centres for emergency patients. It will also have a modular operation theatre, orthopaedic, general surgery and other facilities. The IPD patients will have access to MRI and X-ray machines and an integrated laboratory.

Rajkot AIIMS has already hired 200 doctors, including 70 faculties and senior and junior resident doctors, and 300 nursing staff. The PM will visit the hospital facility and then address a rally at Race Course. He will also do a roadshow from the Old Airport to Race Course.
