Heerba Modi, the mother of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, died today. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has reached Ahmedabad following his mother Heeraba’s demise in the wee hours of Friday. Last rites of Heeraba begin, PM Modi leads funeral procession. PM Narendra Modi carried the mortal remains of his mother Heeraba, who passed away around 3:30 am on Friday in Ahmedabad. A glorious century rests at the feet of God, PM Modi said while informing about her demise.
In a heartfelt note, the prime minister wrote, “In Maa I have always felt that trinity, which contains the journey of an ascetic, the symbol of a selfless Karmayogi and a life committed to values.”
PM Modi’s brother Somabhai Modi and other family members arrive at the residence of Heeraben Modi in Gandhinagar. Heeraba, use to live at Raysan village near Gandhinagar city with PM Modi’s younger brother Pankaj Modi. The prime minister use to regularly visit Raysan to spend time with her during most of his Gujarat visits.
Family sources said that “We thank everyone for their prayers in these tough times. It is our humble request to everyone to keep the departed soul in their thoughts and continue with their pre decided schedule and commitments. That would be a befitting tribute to Heeraba”. Yogi Adityanath said the death of one’s mother is an unbearable and irreparable loss.

Heerba Modi, the mother of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, died peacefully early Friday morning. She was admitted at UN Mehta Hospital since Wednesday, when she complained of difficulty in breathing. She was 100. Modi flew in shortly after the news. The last rites are expected to take place at Gandhinagar Sector 6 at 9:30 am.
Meanwhile, Heeraben’s neighbours recall her simplicity, cordial relations with locals who always maintained a low profile despite being Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mother.
On the day when PM Modi Mother was admitted, Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, health minister Rushikesh Patel and Rajya Sabha MP Parimal were among several leaders who visited the hospital on Tuesday. The prime minister too landed in Ahmedabad from Delhi in the afternoon, and spent over an hour with his mother. He also spoke to the doctors at the hospital.
