Punjab CM Charanjit Singh Channi’s Son Gets Married In Low-Key Ceremony

| Updated: October 10, 2021 19:51

Punjab Chief Minister Charanjit Singh Channi’s son Navjit Singh got hitched at  Gurudwara Sacha Dhan Sahib in Phase 3B1, in Mohali on Sunday.  A few heads of the Congress, Members of Parliament, and the legislators—went to the function held at Sacha Dhan Gurdwara in Mohali. Navjit got married to an engineering graduate Simrandheer Kaur, a resident of Amlala village near Derabassi, who is pursuing an MBA degree. Punjab’s Governor Banwarilal Purohit attended the wedding. Among prominent Congress invitees were Harish Rawat, the All India Congress Committee general secretary who’s responsible for the party’s affairs in Punjab, and Finance Minister Manpreet Badal.

Curveball here is that Navjot Singh Sidhu, the Punjab Congress chief remained prominently missing, amid the reports of differences between him and the new Punjab CM. Sources in the party said Sidhu had travelled to Jammu from Lucknow to visit Vaishno Devi with Minister Vijay Inder Singla and MLA Dr Raj Kumar Chabbewal.   “Darshan of the primordial mother during Navratras is synergising. Washes away all the dirt from the soul!! Blessed to be at the lotus feet of Mata Vishnu Devi” Sidhu tweeted.

Channi himself drove his son to the venue, the ceremony was kept a simple affair, tight security arrangements were dome for the delegates.  Gurpreet Ghuggi, a well-known Punjabi celebrity, lauded the simple wedding ceremony. Akal Takht acting Jathedar Giani Harpreet Singh addressed the congregation. He also had lunch with the newly-married couple and performed Ardas (prayer) for them.
