Residents across Gujarat can expect relief from the intense summer heat as the weather department has forecast rain, thunderstorms, and strong winds in several parts of the state today. An Orange Alert has been issued for 11 districts where weather conditions are expected to be more severe.
According to the forecast, many areas including Ahmedabad, Gandhinagar, Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Sabarkantha, Aravalli, Kheda, Anand, Panchmahal, Dahod, Mahisagar, Vadodara, Chhota Udepur, Narmada, Bharuch, Surat, Dang, Navsari, Valsad, and Tapi are likely to receive light to moderate rainfall.
In Saurashtra and Kutch, districts such as Surendranagar, Rajkot, Jamnagar, Porbandar, Junagadh, Amreli, Bhavnagar, Morbi, Devbhumi Dwarka, Gir Somnath, Botad, Diu, and Kutch may witness scattered rain showers accompanied by thunder and lightning.
Weather Warning for the Next Three Hours:
The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has also issued a short-term warning for the next three hours, predicting thunderstorms and strong winds in several districts, including Ahmedabad. Wind speeds are expected to range between 40 and 61 kmph from 10 AM to 1 PM, along with light to moderate rainfall.
The districts likely to be most affected include Banaskantha, Patan, Mehsana, Gandhinagar, Ahmedabad, Kheda, Anand, Surendranagar, Botad, Bhavnagar, and Kutch. Authorities have advised people to remain cautious, especially while travelling or engaging in outdoor activities.
The rainfall is expected to bring a welcome drop in temperatures across the state, with daytime temperatures likely to decrease by 3 to 4 degrees Celsius, providing much-needed relief from the recent heat.
Officials have urged citizens to stay updated with weather advisories and take necessary precautions during thunderstorms and strong winds.
